Day 26 – Day 26
Day 26 – Self Titled Album

Making The Band is a show that has been going on for sometime now. It all started out with “Da Band”, which was a group that consisted of 5 or 6 badass people who were always causing drama. It was the first time we had all heard of Making The Band. What is MTB? It’s a show where Diddy goes on a quest trying to find people who can make a good band that can impress the world. The first 2 seasons were so bad, I can’t even remember their first single!
So let’s fast forward to August 26th, 2007. By this time we’re at Making The Band season 4 and on this very day 5 guys from all over the US were chosen. Brian A., Willie, Qwanell, Big Mike, ad Robert. These 5 guys would be the future of the first all guy band formed by Diddy. This was also the day when the season would end and we would all have to anxiously wait for the return to see the outcome of their CD.
Let’s fast forward once more to the beginning of 2008, when the show returns. We all soon learn that they choose the name Day 26 (August 26th, 2007 – The day they were chosen) and we see that they are in the studio… but then they get kicked out cause they weren’t pushing it to the limit. Day 26 was able to work with Bryan M. Cox, The Runners, Jim Beanz, Mario Winans, and the man himself, Diddy. For their first album, I must say I’m truly beyond impressed. Usually when recording a studio album artist have about a year or two but Day 26 had only 3 weeks. If only all new and current artist could pull this off!!! Below is their tracklisting. Their self-titled album drops March 25th, 2008 and it’s a MUSTHAVE for every freaking person!
Track Listing:
1. I’m The Reason – This track was the theme song for the first season of Making The Band 4. It’s a very upbeat track that features drums and bells and all that jazz.
2. Got Me Going – This is their first single from the album. It of course features Diddy, like all other first singles from Bad Boy artist do. This track still has to grow on me since I don’t particularly care for it too much.
3. In My Bed – When I first heard this track, I thought of Stevie Wonder. I don’t know why, but the sound just reminds me of those old Stevie Wonder songs.
4. Silly Love – Hard to describe this song. It’s like one of those songs where you think about the music video taking place in New York somewhere on the corner.
5. Come With Me – Most def a club banger. This is one of the most hyped songs from the CD.
6. Co-Star – I don’t care for this song at all. I just don’t like it. This song has some serious growing to do one me.
7. Come In – This is one of those songs that you play when your girl is mad at you or when you know a girl who just got her feelings hurt.
8. Are We In This Together – A new version of a ballad from Bryan M. Cox. This is on repeat in my library and will be for a little bit.
9. What It Feels Like – THIS IS THE BEST SONG ON THE CD BY FAR! I love this song to death. It gives me this special feeling I just don’t know why though. This, in my opinion, is a club song. One of those freaky deaky songs.
10. Since You’ve Been Gone – I like this song. It’s a slow song…. Can’t really describe it.
11. If It Wasn’t For You – This song is the truth. You play this for your girl as a thank you.
12. Don’t Fight This Feeling – Really… just don’t fight the feeling.
13. Ain’t Going (Ft. DK And Donnie J.) – Theme Song For MTB4 season 2.
14. Exclusive (No Excuses) – This was the first song we heard from them as a group.
The Verdict:
This album is overall good. I give it a 7/10. They made some songs that will most definitely be on repeat for some time in my library.
