Beyonce Music News: Beyonce Earns Fourth #1 Debut With 4

The official first week sales figures are in and it looks like a congratulations is in order. Beyoncé’s latest LP 4 lands at the top spot on Billboard’s album chart this week with sales of 313,420, according to HDD. This makes Knowles’ fourth consecutive debut at the top spot of the chart. Britney Spears leads the pack of the most albums to debut at #1 with 6.

On a slighty lower note, the first week sales figures for 4 are Beyoncé’s lowest sales numbers to date. Her last effort, the alter-ego driven set, I Am… Sasha Fierce boasted sales of 482,000 copies, while her sophomore effort B’Day holds the title of her highest sales of her career with 541,000 copies. Even Dangerously In Love made more of an impact of the charts, selling 317,000 copies in it’s first week- and that was after being pushed up a week to avoid piracy.

4 has a totally different sound and has received the best critical acclaim of any album in her entire career which makes it interesting to see how low the first week sales are. Maybe things will pick up with the increase in airplay of her latest single “Best Thing I Never Had.”
