Meet Brothers From Another, a Hip-Hop duo emerging from the ever so lovely Seattle. The group consists of Goonstar and Breeze and they joined the game towards the end of last year. Both of them have known each other for a while and their story on how they started is an interesting one. It started by writing and spittin’ freestyles that were just for fun and after chillin’ with their friend/producer Spike, they got the idea to hop in the studio and record their rhymes. The music they have out currently is full of catchy shit that make you think, laugh, and scream “this shit is ill!” All you can do is bob your head to the beats and try to keep up with their flow, which is a very crazy one. Hit the jump to read more about the group and how SA connected with them!

I found out about the group after they added me on MySpace and told me to give them a listen. Of course since I know them, it’s an automatic yes. I gave their stuff a listen… played it a few more times… and found myself tryin’ to learn the rhymes. I got in contact with them and told them they have to be up on SA and the rest is history. Below are some questions I had a chance to ask them so you guys can get to know them better. Check it out!

Goonstar
Who is Brothers From Another?

Pshhh me and this guy breez just sayin what we say everyday to the bitches on a dope beat basically.

How’d you go about picking the name?

It was strange really when the DNA test came and turns out me and this guy Breez are actually brothers given his moms isn’t my moms and my moms isn’t his moms. I guess the name was only right.

What made you want to get in the game?

This fucker Breez was always writing acapella verses and they were dope. This guy Spike was always like fuck you guys should rap over these beats I make and shit. Then one day I was mad bored so I wrote a verse to Mr. Me Too the shit went on for like five minutes and rapped that shit and people were like wao. So iono I guess seeing people react to my music and bein able to be like yea motha fucka that’s me I got talent!

What sets you apart form other artist in the industry?

Look at my head…its ridiculous!

What can we expect from BFA in the future?

One thing my dad always said to me was like boy you need to college so I think ima do a little something like that later. But now Im just gonna keep on fucking the industry try and put out an EP sometime in spring.

What is your style (music wise) like?

Im going to educated some dumb mother fuckers real quick. In America our culture is considered to be a salad bowl or melting pot culture. Which basically means we are a lot of different cultures mixed together and equally represented as one, which is American (this shits actually not true American is white) but shit so our style I would say is a melting pot of all types of music. We are influenced by everything from Jay-Z to the Beatles, Nas, Jack Johnson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Al Green, BIG, Fallout Boy, John Mayer, A Tribe Called Quest I mean the list goes on. We take everything our ears have listened to in the short time between birth and 17 and represent it in our rap. Like American Rappers or some shit heavy shit.

Peace to all the homies, Spike, Schy, Kush, The barryman, Dave, The Jeweler PO, Ike, Nicki B, Malc Finister, RC, this guy Weeks, Don, Moni, Cee Shecks, Everybody at the triple crown family, paulina, law familia Crisp, Mase, Adrian, KReam Team, Benito, and everybody whos ever said they’ve liked my music appreciate it real talk.

Breez
Who is Brothers From Another?

Its just me and this guy Goonstar trying to make the best of what we got…its just us jumping in the studio between 3rd period chemistry and 5h period math and having a blast…its just us chillin trying to do what all good musicians try and convey are messages and make your head nod in the process.

How’d you go about picking the name?

Well we kina look alike so people always ask if we are brothers…it just came from that.

What made you want to get in the game?

We where just sitting in the lunch room hella bored…we had mad free time before class and we where trying to come up with something to do…school work was clearly outta the picture so I was like man bro you trying to play some ball he said…nope…he asked if I wanted to go flip all the pictures in the art building upside down…I wasn’t feelin it so my boy spike came up played some beats one he called new soul…he played it and I started just rapping off top and I said something like “bro stop wasting your time dog get some credits/ you wont be ready for the next level like JJ Riddick/ dudes eat your lunches/ cas this is gonna be along ride like Gray hound busses/ crazy from the flow to the sneakers/ you been expecting me to drop like Seahawks receivers?…I don’t know something like then Goonstar spit a little something and this guy spike said…lets go to the studio and that was that.

What sets you apart form other artist in the industry?

I think its just where we have come from I mean we both grew up in full houses and like in my house there was always some type of music going on from John Coltrane, to Celia Cruz, to the Tribe every facet of music was touched on in my house and my personal taste in music grew from there and with our own music it just evolved from our personal styles and the beats we where on. I mean when this guy Sky is playing these beats for us with sample by Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Q-tip, I mean it’s clear that our music is going to be a lot different from anything else out there right now.

What can we expect from BFA in the future?

We are going to do this all long as well we still feel like it and as far as what you can expect…we are just going to try to continue making good music. You can probably expect us to be rocking house parties, bus stops, tops of dumpsters, and lunch rooms, across the greater Seattle area.

What is your style (music wise) like?

Good

And there you guys have it. Their music is insane, their style is insane, and all of the above is insane. Be sure to check them out by hittin’ up their MySpace, which you can find the link below and if you would like to get in contact with them, shoot me an email and I can pass it on to them. I’m tellin’ you guys, Seattle ain’t nothin’ to fuck with! We bring it all the time and everytime.
